What God Really Thinks of His Children

Zephaniah 3:14-17

14
Sing aloud, O daughter of Zion;
shout, O Israel!
Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
O daughter of Jerusalem!
15 The LORD has taken away the judgments against you;
he has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, t
he LORD, is in your midst;
you shall never again fear evil.
16 On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:"Fear not, O Zion;
let not your hands grow weak.
17 The LORD your God is in your midst,
a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.

Isaiah 62:5

5 For as a young man marries a young woman,
so shall your sons marry you,
and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
so shall your God rejoice over you.

Sam Storms has an amazing sermon on these verses, as well as a book, both entitled The Singing God. One of my all time favourite sermons for sure.

  1. Hey Chris, Is there any chance you have a link for this sermon by Storms? I'm not well acquainted with his writings or sermons but I keep hearing great things about him.

    I've also recently listened to the Pastor's Conference at Desiring God and Storms has some awesome sermons there as well. He is one of my favourite pastor/theologians/preachers/authors.

  3. Jude, thanks for the link. I listened to the sermon and was refreshed. Storms points out that God is not only tolerant toward us, in regards to His love bestowed on us, but is 'in love' with us to the extent that He is moved to singing as a result of His love. I need to hear sermons like this more because it reminds me of how passionate God is, and that I can be and should be passionate about Him. God is the original passionate lover. Praise Him for this! If we look more at Him, we understand better the image of Him that we are created in. We were created to be passionate people, but specifically passionate about God. Storms' preaching is in the same class as Piper. I will be checking out his Desiring God lectures as well. Thanks again brother and God Bless.
