Sin in Revelation

In The Glory of the Atonement, from his chapter Atonement in the Apocalypse of John, Charles E. Hill discusses the portrayal of sin in Revelation:

In the imagery of John's Revelation, sin is portrayed in several of its horrible effects: as bondage or captivity, as incalculable debt, as defilement and as incurring legal guilt. Yet all of these aspects of sin's vicious craft are resolved for the sinner by the blood of the Lamb! Defiled, condemned, indebted and sold into captivity, those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life have, by his blood, been purchased for God and installed by Christ as pure and holy, acquitted, priests in his kingdom. They have become the Lamb's spotless bride (Rev 19:7-8). Their praise is as everlasting as their redemption. (207)
